Sometimes you want ready-access to things while you're travelling. If you're towing a caravan, this means you want things safely to hand in your car, not being pulled along behind. If you're in a motorhome or campervan, it's obviously slightly easier to access these things, but it's still inconvenient to have to stop and climb in the back just to get a map you want to look at. And if you have children in the back, it's something you'll find yourself doing a lot when they want to change their toys (which means every 10 minutes if ours are anything to go by), or you'll be putting up with a lot of noisy complaints from the back. And if you leave thinsg loose, you just know that sooner or later they'll wind up either on the floor, or far worse under the brake pedal and cause an accident!
