Arm Rest for Campervan

If you're spending a lot of time at the wheel it's nice to be comfortable. It can help with safety too as greater comfort means less fatigue, and thus a more alert driver.

One feature of most long-haul trucks that is lacking from most local delivery vans is a pair of arm-rests. The reason is simple enough the professional driver on the long-haul could be at the wheel for anywhere up to 10 hours each day; whereas white van man may only do 30 minutes driving in his 10 hour working day, and may even be getting in and out during that short period.

However a great many campervans and motorhomes are driven in a manner more akin to a long-haul truck, i.e. for several hours each day. And they're driven for pleasure, meaning the driver doesn't want to be exhausted at the end of the day.

The simple solution to increasing your long-haul comfort then, is to fit arm-rests into your van.

To install an arm-rest in your motorcaravan, you need to buy two things:

1. The arm-rest itself (either left-hand or right-hand, depending on which arm you wish to support); and
2. A fitting kit designed for your specific make/model/year of van to attach the arm-rest to it.

By way of example:

• If you have a VW T5 campervan in left-hand-drive configuration and want to support your right arm whilst driving you will need a PUR Right Hand Arm Rest and a VW T5 Right Hand PUR Armrest Fitting Kit
• If you have a coachbuilt motorhome based on a Fiat Ducato chassis-cab from 2007 in right-hand-drive configuration and want to support your left arm whilst driving you will need a PUR Left Hand Arm Rest and a Fiat Ducato 2007 On Left Hand PUR Armrest Fitting Kit

Obviously there's nothing to stop you fitting a left-hand armrest in your T5, or indeed a right-hand armrest in your Ducato, at the same time or later, either to the same seat or to the other seat as you choose.
