Self Build Motorhome

There are perhaps almost as many detailed reasons why people wish to carry out a DIY campervan conversion, or self-build a motorhome, as there are people actively involved in the process. However, in simple terms, it generally seems to boil down to one of three main reasons:

• A desire to save money or
• A desire to have something that isn't readily available; or
• A combination of the two.

By far the most popular route to build a campervan is to buy a commercial van, often after it has seen a few years of service but has been well looked after, and then refit the interior.

This involves not just the obvious activities such as building bespoke campervan furniture (for which we can supply all the legs, hinges and handles, as well as bed springs), but also cutting holes for lightweight Seitz windows and roof vents (also all below this page), through to installing the toilet and water systems, through the cooking and heating systems, to the complexities of electrical power which incorporates everything from leisure batteries and solar panels to 12v LCD TVs and roof-mounted self-seekingTV & nternet satellite dishes.
